Wood By Hand

About

A few years ago, I decided to create one bird box for the neighbour. It involved; researching the different sizes of the hole to allow the correct bird in, and a few nights of work - it's now an old retired object. I didn't preserve it, and neither did they, so it rapidly (over a year or so) rotted. Thus being no good to the birds or as a lovely object in the garden.

I carried on, not being any good at woodwork I thought; let's improve! I remember now I couldn't even cut a piece of wood straight. Practise makes perfect, so that's what I did. 2 months practise allowed me to make my creations almost perfect - found a handy way of stopping the wood cracking - countersinking the screws to get a better finish and save on wrecking the sandpaper - and now I am able to be more precise with my woodwork.

Lately, over the past year I have been designing my own items - such as the train, and pot women - I've liked the outcomes. I'd like to excel my skills further with the help of you guys; don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything you'd like to see!
